Highlights

Conservation
As part of our water conservation efforts, Bandu organized
two voluntary work project programmes during November to construct check/stop
dams on streams.
On November 8, Bandu lead a team of 28 people including 2
unemployed village youths, teachers and students of Zilla Parishad (ZP) Primary
School, Adegaon in programme to build a
check dam on a stream around half a kilometer from the village, adjoining the
jungle. The resultant water body will benefit domestic livestock in the day and
wild animals at night. Wild boars, spotted deer, nilgai are spotted regularly
in the area while wild dogs are seen more occasionally.

On November 29, a similar programme was organized at a site
around 1.5-2 kms from Katwal village in the jungle. Bandu was joined in this
programme by 4 teachers and 61 students of ZP Primary School, Katwal. This
water body is mainly for the benefit of wildlife. Nilgai, spotted deer and
sambhar are all spotted regularly in this area.

During
the month, Bandu also 3 organized programmes to follow-up on plantation done
during the monsoon months. Earlier in the year, we had arranged for planting of
saplings in different villages. Now, we are following up to ensure that the
saplings get enough water as well as protection from grazing livestock. Details
are given in the table above.

On November 2, Bandu organized an anti-plastic programme at Dewada
in which school students cleaned up the main village road of plastic litter and
waste. They then cleaned up the school premises. The litter/waste was then
buried in pits. Similar anti-plastic programmes were organized on November 7 at
Mudholi and on November 30 at Kutwanda.

As part of our community assistance programmes, we organized
a voluntary work project on November 9 at Sitarampeth in which 9 students from
the village school joined Bandu in cleaning a soak pit. Polythene wrappers,
leaves and other natural waste had fallen into the pit and clogged it up. The
team cleaned it up.
Education
In November, our environment
education programme covered 8 schools.

On November 6, Bandu organized a nature game at Chorgaon, in
which the intricate relationship and inter-dependency between different species
of flora and fauna was taught to the children.
On November 22, a rangoli contest was held at ZP Primary
School Bamdeli.

Bhagwanpur
Bandu visited the village on November 4-5 and on November
24-25 to follow up on the status of the relocated villagers.
