Conservation
With the monsoon setting in across the landscape, our teams
have been working to motivate villagers to plant saplings. In July, Satpuda and
Forest Department team jointly organised planting of saplings in our area. A
total of 1,500 bamboo, kosam, mahua and
teak saplings were planted with the
support of local villagers at Aaritodiya, Jhirpa, Almod, Singanama and Matkuli.
Education
During the month, our team organised 14 lectures to educate students
about nature and wildlife conservation.

During July, our team conducted a total of 9 film shows on
nature and wildlife conservation.
Employment Cell
During the month, we arranged
awareness programmes on livelihood training programmes offered under National
Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) and discusses livelihood options with
unemployed young villagers in the villages in our area of operations. We also
gave information to young villagers about loans available under governmment
schemes like Mukhyamantri Swarojgar
Yojna, Mukhyamantri Udhmi Yojna, Mukhyamantri Arthik Kalyan Yojna, Mudra Yojna.

International Tiger Day
On July 29, the local staff of Satpura Tiger Reserve and Satpuda
Foundation jointly organised functions to celebrate the International Tiger Day
at Government Higher Secondary School, Jhirpa. The programme was attended by Shri
Rakesh Routiya (Adhiksak, Government Ashram, Jhirpa) Shivnarayan Devda (Forest
Guard), Ashfaq Aarbi, Hamid Khan and students of the village school at Jhirpa.
The function included a display about tiger’s habitat and food
chain system, a film on tiger and nature conservation, a nature game and a quiz
contest.
Mobile Health Service (MHS)
Satpuda Foundation organises medical camps at which
villagers get free treatment and medicines. These camps, whose schedule is set
in conjunction with the management of the Tiger Reserve, are run by the Mobile Health
Service (MHS) of Satpuda Foundation.
There were health camps in 6 villages in July.
