Conservation

On February 5, Niranjan gathered a team of 6 villagers of Jamuntola to repair a stop dam over a stream flowing along the village boundary. The dam was built with the help of sand filled gunny bags, which helps in retaining the excessive water flowing out of the lake. In the summer this lake is the only water source for the area. The water body formed by the dam will provide water to both domestic and wild animals. Photos below.

On February 3, an anti-plastic drive was organized in the village of Jamuntola. 11 children participated in the program. The drive’s motive was to clean the area and spread awareness among the villagers about cleanliness. Children were explained about the hazards of plastic on the environment.

In February, six nature trails were organized by Niranjan for the children of Turia, Ambadi, Durgapur, Jamuntola and Aamajhari villages. On the trails, he explained to them about the various plants and common wild animals and insects from the area. He also identified birds along the trail and explained their role in nature.
