August 2012 Activity Updates: Pench Madhya Pradesh

Highlights

  • 1 nature trail for students at Turia
  • Construct soak pit at Aamajhari
  • Medical camps in 6 villages –  310  patients treated

Conservation work











On Aug 26, Niranjan led 5 children from Turia village on a nature trail in the jungle adjoining the village. On the trail, Niranjan identified various species of local flora and fauna and explained the need for conservation to the children.
           
On Aug 29, Niranjan led a team of 12 children from Aamajhari in a programme to construct soak pit next to hand pump. The team dug a pit to collect the water which spills over when people use the hand pump. The pit will help recharge the adjoining water table.

On Aug 24, Niranjan led a team of 10 children from Telia in a programme to plant seeds of local plants in the village school campus. The seeds were of heta, kaner and jamun.

On Aug 17, Niranjan led a team of 2 children from Turia in a programme to plant mango saplings in the village. The saplings were procured locally from the village.

On Aug 27, Niranjan led a team of 5 children from Jamuntola in a programme to plant seeds in the village school campus. The seeds were of heta, kaner and jamun.



Education

During the month our team organized environment education programme in village schools in our area of operations.


















Mobile Health Unit (MHU)

We assisted Nature Conservation Society, Amravati in holding 6 medical camps in August.
