Satpuda Foundation appeals to kids to support wildlife conservation

On the occasion of Wildlife Week, Satpuda Foundation (SF) made an appeal to kids to support the cause of wildlife conservation. SF made the appeal through a number of events such as a Bird Race, a rally and a wildlife photography exhibition at Nagpur, the tiger capital of India.

Our Wildlife Week programmes kicked off with strong participation in a rally organized by the Forest Department on October 1. Ten schools, registered with us for conservation activities, sent a total of more than 1200 students to participate in the rally. It started at Yashwant Stadium, wound its way around different areas of the city and returned to the stadium. Mayor Anil Sole inaugurated the function. It was also attended by the Chief Wildlife Warden SWH Naqwi, and other senior forest officers.

The guests spread the message of wildlife conservation on this occasion. Awards were also distributed for good participation. Sandipani School, which is registered with us, was awarded 2nd prize in the participation category. Tidke Vidyalaya, also registered with us, won the 2nd prize for slogans. Students and the faculty of Central India College of Law also participated in the rally at our request.

On October 2, we organized a Bird Race at Satpuda Botanical Garden for students of Sandipani School, Centre Point School (Katol Road and Wardhman Nagar), and Tidke Vidyalaya. A total of 24 students divided into six batches participated in the race. Their objective was to spot as many birds as possible in 40 minutes, identify them and answer the questions put up by the judges to authenticate their claims. The judges were Dr Tarique Sani and Dr Anil Pimplapure, both well-known bird experts. The children enjoyed this event.
